Arrival in Tanzania

Pick from Airport & transfer to your accommodation where you will Meet our guide who shall give a detailed brief about your adventure for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Moshi-Kilimanjaro to Lemosho gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Your day will begin with a 3 to 4 hours’ drive from Moshi up on reaching the Lemosho gate where you will have to finish up some park regulation at the gate and other formalities and you will take some minutes walking back up to the Lemosho glade where the real train starts. Then you will be trekking upon reaching the Mti Mkubwa camp for dinner & overnight.

  • What to see: Some wildlife animals such as black and white colobus from the gate
  • Time and distance: 3 to 4hrs hiking a distance of 7km
  • Walking through: the dense misty rainforest

  • Elevation: 2650 m/8695 ft

Mti Mkubwa camp to Shira I camp

This seems to be a short trekking day as it takes only 4 to 5 hrs, though the day seems to be short but it is a bit long due to the nature of the trail as it is very steep with some ridges before reaching the Shira plateau, hence you will be having a lot of stops for break to the next. It means on this day you start to climatize.

  • What to see: Great views of the valleys, the scenery and the Kibo view
  • Time and distance: 4 to 5hrs hiking a distance of 8km
  • Walking through: Moorland and valleys
  • Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
  • Elevation: 3480 m/11420 ft – 3850 m/12630 ft

 

Shira I Camp to Shira II Camp

On this day you will be having a moderate walk across the Shira plateau, though, from here there are several options, but as the guide have experience in any of the options but the beat is walking though the Shira plateau through the Shira cathedral up on reaching the Shira II camp.

  • Time and distance: 6 to 8hrs hiking a distance of 8km
  • Walking through: Shira cathedral
  • Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Shira II Camp to Lava Tower then Baranco Camp

This is the long day climbing where you will be ascending up to the lava tower which is the volcanic plug remain after the Kilimanjaro was volcanic.

Thereafter you will be descending down to the Baranco valley which is the massive landline of some years back. Climbers tend to reach the Baranco camp through Machame, Shira, Lemosho and even the special northern route. Although at some point you might feet the shocking change of altitude and even experiencing the short of oxygen, but it is the best day for adaptation to the environment changes.

  • What to see: Kibo peak, the Western breach and the southern glaciers
  • Elevation: 3850m/12,600ft to 3900m/13,000ft

Baranco camp to Karanga camp

This day it is when you can keep and myth or proves it to be just a myth, as the day will begin with attacking the Baranco wall, where the myth says only experienced climbers made it but with your energetic you can make it. It is a steep slope yes but it is no way that it needs a climbing experience.

It takes an hour to climb it and from there you will suddenly see the great view of Kibo peak which is closer from there, thereafter will be crossing the valleys until you reach the Karanga valley camp.

  • Time and distance: hiking of 4 to 5hrs a distance of 4km
  • What to see: Kibo peak, the Western breach and the southern glaciers
  • Elevation: 3900 M to 3995M

Karanga camp to Barafu camp

After the morning breakfast from the camp, you will leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. There after you continue the trekking up to the Barafu Hut. There you have completed the South Circuit. This is the point which offers the great views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.

  • What to see: The Mawenzi and Kibo peaks
  • Elevation: 3995M to 4673 M

Summit and descend to Mweka camp

This is the dream come true day where you will be leaving in the midnight passing between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers.

You will be heading to the north-westerly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim where you can stop and have some rest.

At Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit at the Uhuru peak and from there you will meet a Congratulation spot sight that you have reached the highest peak in Africa and you are on the list of the successful people who has made it to the roof of Africa as you will be certified for that. After the summit you will take your way back descending down until you reach the Mweka camp.

  • Walking through: The crater rim
  • Accompaniments: Mountain guide/guides, on the summit then joining the chef and porters at Barafu on descending back
  • Time and distance: hiking of 5to 7hrs ascending and 5 to 6 hrs descending a distance of 5km up and 13km down respectively.
  • What to see: the great view at the Uhuru peak
  • Elevation: 4700m/15,350ft to 5895m/19,340ft up and 3090m/10,150ft down
  • Meal plans: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner

Mweka camp to Mweka gate then back to Arusha

This is the last day of your adventure to the roof of Africa where you will be taking your morning breakfast at the camp and then takes time to continue the descending up to the Mweka gate where you will meet the staff of NEXT STOP TANZANIA waiting to pick you back to the Hotel. On descending at the lower elevation, it might be wet and muddy hence the gaiters are highly recommended to be used.

Depending on Flight Schedule transfer to Airport for a flight to Zanzibar for the next phase of your holiday. You will meet our Zanzibar local guide at the airport and taken to your accommodation nearly stone town, where you have a first nights. This well-established resort is ideal for families, with a large swimming pool, plenty of sunny and shady areas to relax and gardens leading on to the beach.

Zanzibar (Relaxed day)

After the exhilarating experience of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, unwind with a relaxing day at your hotel in Zanzibar. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and take in the stunning views of the Indian Ocean from your accommodation. 

Spend the day lounging by the pool or on the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Treat yourself to a spa treatment or a massage to soothe your muscles after the climb. This day of relaxation is the perfect way to rejuvenate before continuing your exploring Zanzibar.

Zanzibar (Stone Town tour & Swim with Sea turtles)

If you can tear yourself away from the beach and pool, our local guide shall take you for excursion in stone town if you fancy some sightseeing and last-minute souvenir shopping then enroute to the North of Island for swimming with sea turtles

Zanzibar (Prison Island & Nakupenda Sandbank)

After breakfast our guide shall take you to Prison Island where you shall spend some hours to explore the area then enroute Nakupenda Sandbank for swimming and relaxation. The sea food lunch shall be served here (sandbank)

Zanzibar (Jozan Forest & Spice Farm)

After breakfast drive to Jozan forest where you walk among the trees and listen and look out for colobus monkeys then enroute to Spice farm where you will realize why Zanzibar is a spice island.

Departure

Your holiday is drawing to an end. Depending on your flight schedule you will be driven back to the airport to check in for your homeward flight.
